End of Summer

I can't believe summer is almost over. It went by faster than ever. I guess it's because of the boy. I was always told that once you have children your life goes by faster. Walker gets older and bigger, but it seems we stay the same.

Summer is not the easiest time to stay slim. Cookouts, beer at the pool, macaroni salad, potato salad, beer at the pool... Have I mentioned beer at the pool? I'm not worried, though. My schedule for fall leaves me with hours of exercise every day and not much time for eating. Good.

In the summer I'll be teaching 6 classes at the Andover School of Ballet, 4 classes and a Christmas dance at Steppin' Out and 2 classes at Kathy's Tumbleweed. I'm taking classes at Northern Essex College and Steppin' Out.

That all sounds busy, but my priority is Walker. He's growing so quickly. I'm glad we get to spend a lot of time together. He's a great little guy (3 "and a half").

As much as I want to work at Andover, working every Saturday is going to be a drag. It seemed so far away and abstract when I accepted the position. I really want to work there, but it'd be even better if it were a week day when Walker was in school. Well, we can't always get what we want. It'll be a good time for "Daddy/Walker bonding." Either that or it'll be a mad scramble every week for me to arrange play dates at the last minute. I can never really tell which way it'll go.

First Day Set Up

So, I've decided to welcome myself into the new techno era with a blog. I hear everyone has one these days. Welcome to the club, self.

Who will read my blog? I have no idea, but it's easier than writing by hand in a journal.

In case anyone should read this I'll tell a bit about myself. I'm a 30-something wife, mother, sister and friend. I'm a dance teacher and this time of year that is probably what I should say I am first. It's recital time. We've got 7 shows, 7 rehearsals. This weekend we've completed the first 4. Next weekend we've got 3 shows on Saturday then we'll be done with that for now. It's always bittersweet. The end of the year's hard work. We're all ready for a break, but we'll all miss it.

It's difficult and wonderful at the same time, being a parent of a 3 year old. I love him so much and we have so much fun together. He can also push my buttons better than anyone else I know. It was a long road to parenthood, though, and I cherish every moment.

I also cherish my sleep. That's where I'm headed now. I'm looking forward to this blog and adding what I hope will be interesting news.
